It’s no secret that I love updating old furniture, using what I’ve got and throwing away no more than I have to but many of you have asked just how I do this and today, I’m telling you! Take these vintage beside tables, for example. I knew they were awesome the first time I laid eyes on them. I also knew they were way too short for….anything really! But they definitely wouldn’t work beside my extra tall king-size bed.{These tables are part of an upcoming post – My Under $500 Bedroom Makeover – stay tuned!}
The biggest question I get, aside from what color is that, is – where did you get those legs?! That’s a good question! This squat, old 1970s dresser would never have transformed into this stately buffet without them.
Legs are essential, especially for shorter vintage furniture. {Have you ever wondered whether folks were shorter in the 70s?} That, and I just love adding legs!
So whether it’s bedside tables that need some height or old end table that needs to accommodate a sink and those who will be using it, I’ve got you covered.
I’ve created an eBay How-to Guide showing you how to find just what you need to update that old dresser into a modern buffet, an end table into a vanity or how to make those vintage bedside tables tall enough to accommodate you as you lounge in that glorious California King. You can find it all in one spot and without paying more than you have to!

Do you have a secret source for legs? The Lowes and Home Depot selection is limited AND pricey. Do you cannibalize other furniture? Great post!

I don’t really have a secret source! I find there where ever I can. And yes, that would include cannibalizing if need be! 😉

If you are looking for smaller legs you could take the caps for fence posts and use them. I have seen the round ones used and they looked really nice. I don’t think they are quite as expensive as buying actual legs.
