At least once a year we’d clean out our garage. Not clean it, clean it. We did that more often. But clean it out. As in take out everything we owned, lay it out in the yard and put it all back in again. All in the hopes that, this time, we’d get it right.
This time we’d have more room and be more organized.
Early on we even built a little storage space for tools. But it was never enough. The clutter always got overwhelming again.
So earlier this year we built some storage areas.
And another wood storage/workbench.
But then we were still left with this. That one unruly corner that just ruined it all! Our yard and gardening tools all piled in one little corner and every time we needed one we knocked all the rest of them down trying to get to it. Sound familiar?
So when I found out about these handy dandy FastTrack garage organization systems by Rubbermaid at Target, I knew exactly what must be done about that unruly corner!
Installation was quick and easy. First, I found my studs (3 of the screws should be in studs for maximum weight capacity – one on each end and one in the middle), then I made sure it was level and marked my holes. I drilled holes for the studs and one in between each stud (wall anchors are included for these in the kit).
Once the screws were in I popped on the FastTrack covers and begin adding the hooks.
There were 4 hooks (3 different varieties) provided in each kit along with the track and hardware. I purchased two kits so we wound up having 8 hooks though we only wound up needing 6.
We used both multipurpose hooks (one per kit). I put two shovels and a metal rake on one.
And I put 3 rakes AND our weed eater on the other! Take that unruly garage corner.
I used a handle hook to hold our extension cords and scoop hooks to hold the rest.
And that my friends is how the unruly corner was finally tackled. I wish I had known how easy it could be. I would have done it much sooner. I think I’ll add a few extra kits above my wood storage/work bench next.
If you’ve got some garage clutter to tame you’ll find these Rubbermaid FastTrack kits on sale at Target this week only (5/18 -5/24). Regularly 33.99 on sale for 28.89. You’ve put it off too long already. You’ll glad be glad you finally got it done. I know I was!

Looks awesome. I have to do something about my garage mess also. Why do you have that gorgeous armoire in your garage? I love it?

That armoire. Well it is gorgeous but it is also a mess. I work a lot in my garage so for now it holds my pretty work things. I keep entertaining the thought of fixing her up some day and I am taking good care of her, despite the fact that she’s in the garage. But for now she’s too unstable to move or do much with until she gets a complete overhaul and THAT will be a massive amount of work. For now, I like the fact that she prettys up my garage! 😉

Hmmm not that I can tell from my end Evelyn but thank you for alerting me to it. I will definitely look into it to see if something’s going on. Thank you!
