DIY Animal Head Wall Mount

Southern Revivals | DIY Animal Head Wall Mount

Are you obsessed with animal heads as much as I am? Not the real ones, mind you. The faux taxidermy kind.

Yes? No?

Well either way, you are guaranteed to love these new Mod Podge Rocks! Peel & Stick Stencils as much as I do.

I wanted something super cute and modern to go on the arrow wall in my son’s newly completed Big Boy Room. I had already created a funky and modern burlap and arrow canvas for the wall but it needed a little some thing else. It’s my favorite wall in the whole house so not just any thing would do.

I decided to use a wooden plaque to mount a faux reindeer head I scored from Decor Steals to give it ‘a little something’.

I chose the wood grain stencil and decided to use a gray over white paint. You can use them with paint or mod podge podgeable glitters. I think with my next project I might even try them with a little stain!

Simply peel them from the backing…

And place on to your project. They have a slightly sticky backing that adheres them to the surface just enough to ensure no bleed through but not enough to pull up any paint that might already be on your surface.

Once your stencil is in place, you simply pounce on your paint.

Once you’ve filled in your design completely, simply pull up your stencil, place it back on it’s backing and clean it with a damp cloth – you can even run it under the faucet. Once it’s dry you can place it on your project again if necessary.

You can peel and restick these stencils up to 29 times!  And they are so easy to wash and quickly reuse. I am not a patient person, so this is a definite plus!

I wanted a weathered, driftwood-y look, something muted that would go with the bedroom’s calming modern vibe. It didn’t take long for the paint to dry between applications so it was easy to go back in and fill the gaps. {Ignore my box of Ritter Sport chocolates. A girl must eat while she crafts, no?}

And before long, I had this!

A quick and easy project that adds to an already awesome wall. Plus my child feels extra special because he’s got a reindeer watching over him all year long!

These fun peel and stick stencils come in 6 great patterns and are avail online and at your local Micheals craft store.

Does the idea of a stencil that stays where you put it but is also reusable appeal to you? Got some great ideas on how to use one? Leave it in the comments below and let’s inspire one another!

    Yes! The one time I used a stencil it was a horrible fail. Something that sticks is definitely what I need next time.

      Agreed! It would work much better if it’d just be still! LOL
