It was just after I’d hung all of our stocking by the chimney with care when my 3 yr old said, Mommy, where are Gracie, Malfoy, CJ and Jake’s stockings? Come to think of it, he had a very puppy dog look about him when he said it. Those big sweet eyes looking at me hopefully. Knowing I’d cave and give into whatever he asked of me. Luckily he was very selflessly asking for our cats and dogs to have stockings of their own. How could I say no to that?
Believe me when I tell you this is not your Father’s silver Duck Brand® Tape. The crafting possibilities are endless as are the theme choices. Anything from The Avengers to Star Wars. And my personal favorite, the Handlebar Mustache. Today I’m working 4 of the holiday themed tapes: Penguins, Snowmen, Candy Canes and Christmas Bows.
First, I printed out 2 of these stocking templates for each of the stockings I would be making.
Then I placed the tape on the paper, overlapping the edges of the stocking with the tape.
I placed the tape on the front side of one of the templates and on the backside of the other. That way I would have mirror image stockings once I cut them out. It makes it easier if you hold your template up to the light so you can see the lines when working on the back.
Once you’ve completely covered the templates with tape, you simply cut them out in the shape of your stocking template. The tape attached to the paper helps it to cut out beautifully.
Next, I punched small holes about half and inch apart along the seam of the stocking.
Using a needle, I threaded my favorite colorful Butcher’s Twine through the holes…
Got some unsolicited help from one of the stocking recipients…
Turned out lovely, I think! And it was a fun project to do with my oldest who enjoyed a little sewing experience.
And now, EVERY BODY’S stockings truly are all hung with care!
