Presumably it was found sitting outside. Like forever.
I was convinced I could do something with it. But then, every time I looked at it I noticed something else about it that made it unusable. I still couldn’t toss it.
I thought about using it in the garden as a planter. Then I saw this…
I am totally in love with this chair.I haven’t the slightest idea how much a chair like this one, done by tattoo artist Scott Campbell, would have sold for – if it had been for sale. But I have a sneaking suspicion that I wouldn’t have been able to afford it if it had been.
I try not to let things like that stop me.
Suddenly I knew what I would do with my old, broke-down, weather worn and perfectly spooktacular chair.
I’d start by removing the old fabric. Which is regrettable seeing as the original would have leant itself so well to the skull motif. But alas, it was far too gone to be saved.
The funny thing is, all those things I’d viewed as flaws suddenly became a necessary part of the design.
The crusty old legs were now perfect where they had once been questionable. It doesn’t matter so much if they can hold anyone anymore. This isn’t that kind of chair.
Check out that gorgeous back!
Remember how I said the chair wouldn’t need to hold anyone anymore?
Yeah. Well. Let’s just say Malfoy is part of the design. He looks good sitting there, no?
I finally have my own artistic skull chair and I didn’t even have to go to tattoo artist school. Or draw. Anything!
I used the same technique for transferring this image as I did in this popular post: DIY Photo Transfer on Pallet Wood.
Add a few fancy Halloween-y pillows…
Some black velvet trim…
And a black cat.
Or two.
And bam! You’ve got yourself a super fancy, one of a kind chair and it was practically free!
Like I said, I’m no tattoo artist but it ain’t too shabby, huh? What do you say, would you use your skull chair all year long or only when the spooks come out?
