Today I’m getting in touch with my inner 80s child who used to draw on her Keds with markers. But with a twist! Here’s how I made these fun Sugar Skull Day of the Dead shoes with Neon Sharpies from Target.
My husband and I recently saw an artist completely cover a car in Sharpie art.
I did not draw on a car.
Or at all, really.
What I did was transfer these awesome skull images (you can Google for some really great ones) onto my shoes before getting started with the markers. You can find my favorite and foolproof method for image photo transferring here: DIY Photo Transfer
Once you’ve transferred or drawn whatever amazing image you choose, simply fill in the details with some neon fun. You’ll get brilliant, vivid color even in daylight.
The Neon Sharpie 5-pack comes with Neon Yellow, Pink, Green and Orange and fine tips let you get as detailed as you like.
No smudging here either. Sharpie markers are permanent on most surfaces so no messing up all of your hard work.
And because they are sugar skulls, I covered them with some glitter mod podge.
Every year I go all out for my kids at Halloween. This year I made myself these adorable shoes.
But my kids will totally enjoy it, too when they realize Mom’s shoes glow under the black light at Disney this weekend.
My oldest has already decided he wants his own Sugar Skull T-shirt. Just as soon as we get back!
