And we’d better be! It’s February and that means it’s time for the second installment of our 12 projects in 12 months in The Revival House Series. {See Jan’s project here}

But you know how projects are. There are so many little details and sometimes, it’s really all about the small things.

And since I believe any well designed room really is about the small things I was excited when I found these great old oars on eBay. Here’s a quick and easy tutorial on dressing these up to give any room some cute, custom detail.

I used acrylic craft paints in my choice of colors: white, gray, navy and red.

First, I blocked off the different color sections with painter’s tape. I applied my first section of paint and waited for that to dry thoroughly (overnight) before applying tape over those painted sections. I continued to block off sections and paint until I had all of the stripes and block painted sections I wanted.

Once they were dry, I hung them using damage-free picture hanging strips. It really was that quick and easy but made such an adorable impact. Now, once it’s finally done our new bathroom will be a cute and comfy place to rest our bums.
