It must be an unspoken rule of the universe that whenever you are looking for something you aren’t likely to find it. However, if you stop looking, the possibilities abound. Probably a bit profound to describe a shopping trip but you know what I mean. You tell yourself, ‘If it’s still here when I come back…’. Things like that. Only it never is and you pine over until you find it or something very like it often spending more than you might have in the first place.
I wound up taking so many pictures of all the things I wish I’d bought on my last trip to TJ Maxx that I thought I’d share them with you so that we could pine over them together.
I recently shared a sneak peek of my newly {almost complete} made over living room on Instagram. Sadly the furniture meant for that room didn’t arrive in time for the room makeover challenge I was taking part in.
I’m looking for some extra seating, slightly more formal but welcoming and cozy, for our living room. I love the pair of these side by side with a small table between them. The’d go nicely with my new old antique sofa.
I loved these artichoke tealight holders and thought they’d look amazing on my farm table for Thanksgiving. I was picturing a monochromatic centerpiece with lots of pattern and texture.
I want a little desk for our master bedroom. I bought one to paint but this one is amazing. I’m trying to figure out if I can recreate with paint.
One of my next big room makeovers is going to be our kitchen. I got some old bar stools at a church yard sale years ago. They still have their original rush seats. I love them but, ah, THESE!! I won’t get over these for a very long time.
And speaking of makeovers, I just finished up some curtains for our dining room. The room isn’t complete yet but I am loving those new curtains so much that I am so ready to have it all done. I spied this chair and pictured how beautiful they’d be as the captain’s chairs at the ends of our farm table. But then, there weren’t two. Just the one. Blah!
And then there’s this. Just because. It’s rustic, it’s wood and those pulls. I didn’t have use in mind for it but it called my name just the same.
See anything here you’d like? Is there anything you loved but it got away? We can form a support group and pine over them together.

Support group…YES!
TJ Maxx is the best/worst thing to ever happen to me.
PS. How do you get those fuzz balls off “our” awful couch? (I have the same couch as your old one) I’ve resorted to taking a razor you would normally use for ones legs and shaving the mess out of it. And it still doesn’t get them all. HELP! lol

Girl. I got one of those motorized fuzz shavers from some store (can’t remember where). I tried it as soon as I got home with it and thought, well this thing won’t work. But recently I decided to strip the cushion covers off and wash them (something the manufacturer recommends you NOT do). I was desperate. I washed them gently and hung them to dry. After I put them back on the couch I whipped out my fuzz shaver and nearly burned out the motor but I got every bit of fuzz there was. It was 2 am before I finish but, Man! That was an exciting day! So I say try a fuzz shaver. Maybe buy two in case you burn up the other one’s motor. 😉

I love TJ Max and Home Goods. They both seem to carry similar things. I loved those neutral chairs as well when I saw them. I’m always window shopping!

The do! And I love them both. I try not to in there too often. LOL

I just bought the little card catalog looking thing last week! I saw it and it called out my name. I walked around with it in my cart for almost an hour, thinking I would summon the courage to put it back on the shelf…yeah, that didn’t happen. I knew I would pine after that thing for a long time if I didn’t get it. Now I just have to figure out where to put it.

That would totally have been me! LOL But it’s so worth it! 😉

I adore T.J. Maxx. I would love to say I pine away after things I see at T.J. Maxx but the truth is (a) I am super picky so it takes a real “yup this is it” feeling for me to buy it and (b) If I get that “yup this is it” feeling I buy it on my credit card. As soon as I get home I put it in place and if I still feel that strongly I sit right down at the computer and pay off my credit card because it’s staying with me. Of course, I don’t buy anything I can’t afford. If I hem and haw over it and don’t want to pay it off right away, it goes right back to the store. I actually have more regrets over things I bought and later found something better which it then just turns into a waste of money :-(.
I would have totally snapped up those artichoke candle holders though. Beautiful!

That is a great plan! And honestly if I weren’t going out of the country tomorrow I would probably have had to go back and gotten those artichokes. Maybe I’ll find something better in Toronto though! 😉
